According to Wiktionary,
hamster wheel (Noun)
A monotonous, repetitive, unfulfilling activity, especially one in which no progress is achieved.

Sometimes we find ourselves seemingly going round and round in circles. We intend to cover 100 metres but find ourselves repeating the same 5 metres over and over again. If we are able to “discover” this challenge, there is hope! But what are we to do? How do we come out of it?

Stop and think

Stopping has its challenges, thinking has its. An author once said that many people are so busy that they do not have time to stop to refuel their cars. But then, for how long, and how far, could a car go without stopping to refuel?

If we can just make a little time to stop and think, we may find corrections and adjustments which we could make to improve our efficiency. It’s just like stopping to refuel only to discover that the pressure in one of your tyres is low.

When we take time to think, we could find what we are not doing well, or even what we are doing which we shouldn’t be concerned about at all. We could find places where time could be saved to do more productive and interesting things.

Check out how credible people are managing

The good thing about being on earth at this time is that there are many people who have gone ahead of us, and their experiences are either recorded or visible for us to learn from. Do you know any of such? Read their books, listen to them, watch them. What mistakes of theirs could you avoid? What lessons from them could you apply?

Ask for help

Sometimes all our efforts may just not do it. We may need the sight or arm of someone bigger than us to break the grind and get a life. Who can you talk to?
