Lanre Fatokun Something Good!
This time last week, the helicopter crash in Nigeria was still fresh in our minds; or maybe raw is the better word. A retired army chief died in the crash.
During the week, the chief in his village had a chat with a journalist. He mentioned some of the things the late General did in the village:
1. The only paved road in the village was done by the General himself.
2. There are 16 family quarters in the village. The General picked 10 students from each quartee and put them through school (10 * 16 = 160).
3. At the height of insecurity due to the activities of pirates in the area, the General established a military outpost in the village.
4. For his own family quarters, if I got what was reported right, he built bungalows for the individual nuclear family units.
And so his death was mourned by all in the village. They “refused to be comforted” because government and governance, so to speak, just died in a helicopter crash!
What can we learn from him?
He utilized his opportunity to do the good he could while he could!
There is a saying, “a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” I guess “a successful man loses nothing by helping other people succeed!”
Meanwhile Jesus said, ” We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.” (John 9:4 – NLT)
Since we do not know when it would be nightfall, we should work harder, faster, smarter at our tasks while it is day!

What goes round comes round, the much with which we give is what we will receive. Let’s all give our best in all we do cos we are accountable to Him who gave us what we have.

A very good indicator of how much I love God is how much I love my fellow man and demonstrate that love with Action.
And NOW is the time.
There are two sides to this matter: Did Gen Azazi’s people appreciate him, if so, their attitude must have encouraged him to do so much for them – lucky people!.
The other side is for people In such vantage positions to take a cue from Gen Adrew Azazi to use their God-given positions to help the less privileged in general and their communities of origin in particular – To whom much is given, much is required..
There are two sides to this matter: Did Gen Azazi’s people appreciate him, if so, their attitude must have encouraged him to do so much for them – lucky people!.
The other side is for people In such vantage positions to take a cue from Gen Adrew Azazi to use their God-given positions to help the less privileged in general and their communities of origin in particular – To whom much is given, much is required.. They should also remember that they won’t be there for ever, hence Lanre’s post’s caption: While It Is Day..
